Itazura No Kissu aka Blinded by Love

August 28, 2008

THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! BUT ONLY SPOILERS UP TO THE LATEST EPISODE!

I have been watching Itazura no Kiss and I have to say generally I am enjoying it. It’s not the most amazing Anime in the world but it’s the kind of story that attracts me. Girl loves boy, boy falls for girl with lots of funny stuff in the way. The thing about Itazura no Kiss is that Kotoko (the “heroine”) falls for a total cunt of a boy called Irie. Now you may think I’m being harsh now since he does fall in love her but the problem lies in the fact he is HORRIBLE to her the entire time. Irie already had a superiority complex. He thought he was better than Kotoko because she was dumb, clumsy and airheaded and he was super smart, good looking and good at everything. He totally brushed off when she tried to declare her love for him at school and to be honest we have got furthur into the season and they are married now and he is still treating her like dirt.

The thing is Kotoko should fight. She is being ignored and he treats her so coldly and she should have left him for the dude in her Nursing class. I don’t see how Irie could love her and why she is so defeatest about it. She gives in and blames herself for the fact Irie is so cold with her, she needs to show him that her love is something he has to work for. I hate this wimpy girl stereotype in Animes because it makes me think of girls who I know like that in real life. I know they exist but I want to see gutsy women like Risa in Lovely Complex. She was fantastic, alwas kicked Otanis ass. Kotoko should kick Iries ass so he treats her better. I mean they are married for christs sake! In my opinion Irie, although an interesting twist on the usual male lead, is annoyingl bland and that’s my main gripe with this anime.

Apart from that I’m enjoying it! 😀 Though Chris’ accent REALLY is quite annoying.

COSPLAY COSPLAY COSPLAY

May 26, 2008

Ok, so I’ve been getting a lot of stick for the Article I wrote a while back on how some people just shouldn’t cosplay. I stand by what I said, I still think if you are gonna Cosplay you should do something that suits you and not just do something easy for the sake of it. I also stand by the fact fat girls in Lycra is just wrong however you look at it. But I think I shall go into my points a bit more, because I do not hate fat people which is what some of you seem to think.

Since I wrote that post I have been to several Anime coventions and witnessed some AMAZING cosplays and some AWFUL Cosplays. I think that it’s just hit and miss with Cosplay. There is more to it than saying “Oh Man Rikku is so hot. I’ll be here and everyone will think I am hot”. I think a lot of Cosplayers are very unimaginative to be honest, it’s all Bleach/Naruto/FinalFantasy and it gets boring. I’m not saying these people don’t do a good job in their Cosplays, because they do, but I wish people took more risks. There was a group of people I know who were different Digimon at the MCM Expo this year, that was interesting and attention grabbing. One of my friends was Gloomy Bear and he looked amazing. I would actually like to see more Sailor Senshi aswell, but they are all outnumbered by people being Bleach Characters or Narutards. It makes me think Cosplaying to some people is about being recognised and seeing how many photographs will be taken of them. I mean a Bleach character is going to get more photos than a character from say Lovely Complex or Somedays Dreamers but it shouldn’t be down to how many photos you get it should be down to being a character you love no matter how well known it is.

This is an amazing Cosplay. It’s amazing how creative some people can be with such over-cosplayer Characters such as the ones in Death Note (: Now if only everyone could be this clever. Having said that if we didn’t have the world of lame Cosplayers we wouldn’t appreciate the amazing Cosplayers so much. I have discovered that Cosplaying is a crazy and weird world full of elitism and wonderfully creative people. It is also full of semi-naked obese women painted blue in thongs. Which terrifys me.

I have a lot of respect for people who Cosplay well (: I hope that next time I cosplay I’ll be awesome aswell!

It’s old news, but it is food for thought…

February 4, 2008

After my monumental (well, at least for me) achievement of completing Kingdom Hearts II in a week and a half, this thought happened to spring to mind- will there ever be a Kingdom Hearts anime?

I have done my research and this rumour seems to have been going round for the last couple of years but if plans had gone though, wouldn’t now be the time for hints to be dropped?

It’s would obviously be a huge gamble, but why not? The news of the three new spin-off games have caused quite a stir in the gaming industry. The manga is highly popular (and may I add on a personal level, very funny. I purchased the COM manga for it’s unlike I’m going to get the game anytime soon, just to see what exactly happened in the story and it cracked me up) Plus, let’s not forget about merchandising! Surely an anime, or even a feature production would be the icing on the cake for Squenix!

Or maybe not. Perhaps the anime will die a horrible death. The Maple Story anime, based on one of the biggest MMORPGs out there didn’t really create much exitement, did it? I have a couple of friends who are pretty much playing that game every single day and they did not realise it had an anime until about a few weeks ago when I asked them had they been watching it.

I want to hear people’s opinions. Would it be a good move? Would you want to  see it happen? Or would it be a disaster? Share your thoughts!

Negima- one girl’s avid following

January 29, 2008

Negima is soon going to be my biggest manga series, as currently I am on book 16 and it is showing no sign of slowing down (bigger than Love Hina [14 volumes] and Fushigi Yugi [18]). I had to wait a very long time for this one. Pretty much since I bought volume 15 in NYC August last year. They are STILL on the Mahora Festival, a three day event that has spanned since volume 9 and is showing no sign of slowing down. This is almost Dragonball Z epic.

At this point in the series, our little Welsh wizard hero now has a vast arsenal of big breasted 15 year old girls at his disposal now in order to help him and such. Much respect to the kid- he’s 10 years old. And their sensei. It’s fun watching him kiss these girls in order to get them to help him. I just wish this festival wouldn’t end already. Nessie is becoming bored. She wants the new story arc already. *thumps keyboard in frustration*

However, some mangas would quite clearly lose their audiences at this point. What makes Negima so endering is that it is done by the wonderul Ken Akamatsu, who also did Love Hina. His art is AMAZING and he does make lovely characters with impressive backstories. In fact, there are so many characters in Negima, that it would be very difficult NOT to have a favourite. And, even though you think the Mahorafest arc has gone on too long, you want to find out what happens at the end. It’s building up to being quite a dramatic fest of the blur of lines between good and evil and a whole bunch of cool spells.

I will ride this manga wave until the end!
